Venus Williams eyes Auckland final

The five-time Wimbledon champion told reporters that her target at tournament is to at least reach the finals

Former world tennis number one Venus Williams reached Auckland today from Los Angeles to make her first appearance at ASB Classic tournament.

The five-time Wimbledon champion told reporters that her target at tournament is to at least reach the finals.

"The other day I dreamed I had a win and I woke up and realized I hadn't even played a round,"Venus said."I hope to go round by round and at least get to the finals – that would awesome."

The American was forced to withdraw from 2013 Kremlin Cup in Moscow, she was receiving treatment for an auto immune illness, which causes fatigue and joint pain.

Venus added more and told that she wants to be like her sister Serena Williams.

"I feel like I'm coming into the season as fit and healthy as I have in many years, so for me that's exciting," she said.

"I've a positive outlook, and my goal is to be like Serena Williams."

Other players who will be competing against her also include Ana Ivanovic, Laura Robson and Monica Puig.
