Roger Federer pulls out of Paris. Djokovic will be number 1 at the end of the season.

As he declared some days ago, Roger Federer, right after the final against Jaun Martin Del Potro, decided he would not defend his title at the Masters 1000 in Bercy: “ It’s really too much for me. I have some physical problems, I’ll prepare at best for the Masters.”

The Swiss continued: “ It was a last minute decision, I have already informed the director of the tournament, Guy Forget. I’m disappointed by the fact that I don’t feel able to compete, I would have wanted to defend the title. I apologize to my supporters. I knew that playing in Basel, it would have been complicated to me to take part also to Bercy. Even if I won Basel I wouldn’t have gone to Paris, but I hope to play in London. I’ll take some days to rest and I’ll train again on Thursday or Friday.”

With the points lost today in Bercy, the Swiss can mathematically say goodbye to number 1 at the end of the season.
