Berdych enters Queens Club event after eight year gap

World no. 6 Tomas Berdych has been added to the line up for the traditional Wimbledom warm up event at the Queen's Club.

The sixth ranked Berdych recently beat Roger Federer in the semi finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and lost to world no. 1 Novak Djokovic in the finals.

Berdych has been a finalist at Wimbledon in 2010 - the only time he has ever been that far in a grand slam.

Berdych will play in Queens for the first time in eight years.

Berdych also announced that former world no, 3 Ivan Ljubicic will be his new manager,

In a statement released, Berdych commented, "I think it could be a good advantage to be in London to get used to the conditions and to those great courts, and I think this is exactly what I need before Wimbledon. Even though it's a long time since I played there (at Queen's) I still remember that beautiful club very well. I have to say that I have never played on a better grass court than at The Queen's Club. The experience of reaching the Wimbledon final was great. It showed me a lot of things - that I'm able to play really well through two weeks, which is very tough,"

Ljubicic is said to have been the driving force behind the decision to play in Queens. The former world no. 3 commented, "Travelling is tiring. If a player stays in London and gets used to London grass - and the Queen's Club courts are the closest to the courts at Wimbledon - it can only be a good thing. I think it's the best preparation for Wimbledon."

Andy Murray will also play the Queens event while Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are entered to play the Gerry Weber Open in Halle as a warm up for Wimbledon.
