Tennis - American wild card Victoria Duval wins second WTA level match

Tennis - 17 year old American Victoria Duval was among the big winners on Wednesday at the Sony Open Tennis in Miami as the first round came to an end for the women.

The wild card American defeated world no. 66 Andrea Hlavackova, 76(4) 64. This is her second WTA level victory after she beat Johanna Larsson at Memphis in February.

The 17 year old is considered to be one of the bright prospects in the womens game for the US.

Duval commented after her win on Wednesday, "I think that first set was really important - it could have gone either way. But I wasn't really nervous. I felt really comfortable out there. There's more of a stress factor when you play your peers, because maybe you're expected to win, but right now I'm still just getting to know the tour, so I'm playing a lot of these players for the first time and have no pressure to win."

"Everything these girls do is good - they're crazy fit and hit it really hard. I think I make up for the power with my movement but I want to improve everything, get stronger, get fitter, and keep working on my speed because that's what I rely on, and I can always improve that as well."
