Japan's top player Kei Nishikori has undergone an MRI to see what the problem with his right ankle is.

Nishikori won the Japan Open title two weeks ago - becoming the first Japanese player to win the title in the history of the event. But Nishikori lost to American Sam Querrey in the Masters Series event in Shanghai, post which he underwent the MRI.

“There is considerable pain in the right ankle,” commented Nishikori.

Nishikori is inside the top 15 now.
