Fan favorite David Nalbandian eased into the second round of the Copa Claro on Tuesday after he beat controversial American Wayne Odesnik 6-2, 6-3.
Nalbandian has struggled with injuries of late, but looked good in his first match.
In other action, Gilles Simon also won, ousting Rui Machado 6-3, 7-5.
"I felt good. I wasn't very consistent, but I hade some good moments," Simon assessed afterwards. "It was a typical clay-court match and it's always good to win in two sets."
