In a match between two players who are yet to seal their berths in the ATP World Tour Finals in London next month, Tomas Berdych defeated Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets to advance to the semi finals of the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
Berdych beat Tsonga 6-3, 7-6(4) for his 53rd win on the tour this year
"I think it was really solid game and solid performance from beginning until the end," commented Berdych. "I think the biggest difference between me and Jo was I was able to take the small chances during the first and especially the second set. It was not many of them, but I was able to keep it and convert it on my side."
"Today, I didn't play my best tennis," commentedTsonga. "Unfortunately, today Tomas was a lot better than me. There is the difference that technically, I think, they're a bit better than me. I have to improve. They are also physically better than me. I'm working to join them."
Berdych will meet world no. 2 Novak Djokovic in the semi finals on Saturday
