World number three Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland has said that American icon Serena Williams is a great champion and player to beat at the Wimbledon.
The Polish player said, “Serena is just great champion. When she’s on fire, I really don’t want her on my part of the draw. That’s for sure. I think she’s still in shape. She’s still looking good on court. She’s playing still a good tennis, running like (she’s) 18 years old.”
Radwanska defeated Germany’s Angelique Kerber in 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-finals to reach her maiden Grand Slam final.
Serena is facing second ranked player Victoria Azarenka in the second semi-final. Azarenka has an upper hand if we look at this year’s performance, as she won the Australian Open at the start of this season, starting it with a 26-match winning streak.
When asked about play Azarenka in the semis, the American said, “She’s had a better year than I have. She’s been so successful already, like I said, winning a Grand Slam. Going against a player like that, I feel like she almost has an advantage, I guess. So that makes me really relaxed and I can just kind of hit.”
Serena is looking to win her fifth Wimbledon crown and overall 14th Grand Slam title.
