Angelique Kerber goes through in Cincinnati as Marion Bartoli loses

Seed no. 5 from Germany came back after losing first set whereas seed no. 8 from France fell to Larrson

There was a day of mixed fortunes for seeded players at Western and Southern Open Tennis tournament in Cincinnati as seed no. 8 Marion Bartoli suffered an upset loss wheresas 5th seed Angelique Kerber progressed after a three setter. 

Kerber from Germany became first player to win 50 matches in a season as she came from behind to beat 19-year-old Hungarian Timea Babos 3-6,6-1,6-2. Kerber made a strong comeback after losing the first set and won second and third quite easily.

The 24-year-old German is coming after showing a strong display in Wimbledon where she reached her first grand slam semifinals.

On the other hand, 8th seeded Marion Bartoli from France showed a disappointing performance against Johanna Larsson of Sweden as she served 13 double faults in the match to lose in straight sets 6-4,6-2.

27-year-old Bartoli, who was finalist at 2007 Wimbledon, was three years older than her opponent and 79 ranks higher in the rankings.
