Former Australian Open finalist Arnaud Clement has announced his retirement from singles.

The news was formalized Monday night through his official website after the defeat in the first round of Wimbledon qualifying.

"Tonight was my last game in singles. The decision was made before the qualifications. It is always very difficult to say but I am just very relaxed about this decision. I'm not sad. Now begins another career for me with new goals and challenges. "

Clement will play at Wimbledon with his compatraiot Michael Llodra
