2011 French Open champion and world no. 11 Li Na was made to work hard by Canadian juniors player Eugenie Bouchard as she beat her 6-4,6-4 to get through to next round in Rogers Cup Tennis event in Montreal.
Seeded tenth at the event, Li praised her opponent and said,
"I really have to say she was playing unbelievable today. She's young and just won Wimbledon juniors this year. I won the match today because I've been on the tour for a long time and have more experience on the court."
Li was very happy to finish her match after all the rain delays.
I think I warmed up like a hundred times already," she joked. "You never know when you can come to the court, so you're standing up every second. But finally, the good news was we were able to finish the match today. So it was good in the end."
2011 Wimbledon juniors champion also talked about her experience of taking on Li Na and things she learnt as she said,
"When she got control of the point she was pretty dominant on that. I was trying to be as aggressive as I could. On the defense it's pretty tough. She puts a lot of pressure on you and won't miss those easy balls. I learned a lot today.
I'd like to see come back Na Li, but I don't think she can stay into top ten: her game is not so good as the new young tennis players
