The unseeded Rusian/Brazilian pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Bruno Soares defeated Czech/Polish pair of Kveta Peschke and Marcin Matkowski in the finals of the US Open Championship to win the title.

Makarova/Soares won the championship after a tough fight from their opponents as they lost the first set after a thrilling tie breaker. They lost 10-8 in the tie break but did not give a chance to their opponents in the second set as they won it 6-1.

Third set was again close like the first one, infact it was even more thrilling. Makarova and Soares saved match point and championship at 10-9 and won three straight points to take the title. It was a huge disappointment for Kveta Peschke as she lost her third US Open mixed doubles final.

Soares and Makarova had beaten few top ranked pairs on their way to the glory including Clijsters/Bob Bryan, which was Clijsters last competitive match and Raymond/Mike Bryan in the first round.
