Nicolas Almagro continued on his good form beating Steve Darcis in straight sets 7-5 6-3; the same score line it took the reigning Wimbledon champion Roger Federer to get passed Denis Istomin.
Juan Martin Del Potro needed 3 sets to defeat Gilles Simon of France; winning the first set 6-1, dropping the second set 4-6, and eventually took the third set 6-3. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga proved he still had enough gas in the tank following his marathon match against Milos Raonic when he beat Spaniard Feliciano Lopez 7-6 6-4.
He set up a repeat of the French Open Semi-Final against Serbain number 1 Novak Djokovic.

The eldest of the Williams sisters Venus Williams lost to the consistent Angelique Kerber in two tie break sets 6-7 6-7, while Serena Williams managed to pull through in convincing fashion against former Top 10 player Vera Zvonareva 6-1 6-0. Russia's flag-bearer Maria Sharapova got the better of Sabine Lisicki, winning in three sets 6-7 6-4 6-3; Sabine Lisicki pulled off the upset against her earlier this year at Wimbledon.
