The number 2 in the world, Novak Djokovic, has managed to win the most matches during the U.S. Open Series (based on the results obtained by the players in tournaments during the American Summer) which ends with the tournament in Flushing Meadows. The defeat of Sam Querrey has effectively crowned the Serb with this record, who has managed this year to win the Rogers Cup and reached the final in Cincinnati.
Djokovic is the eighth different winner in nine years. Only Andy Roddick has managed to achieve the double in 2005 and 2006. Among the women, the award went to Petra Kvitova who won in Montreal, but she lost in the semifinals in Cincinnati and will play the final tournament in New Haven. If the Czech manages to win the U.S. Open, there will be a check for one million dollars waiting for her.
