World no. 2 Maria Sharapova was in devastating form on Sunday in her first round match against Israel's Shahar Peer at the London Olympic Games.
Sharapova won 6-2, 6-0 in her first ever match at the Summer games.
The match was played under the Centre Court roof as rain and hail storms struck the All England Club.
Sharapova carried the Russian flag in the opening ceremony. She missed the 2008 Olympics because of a shoulder injury.
Peer, who was once ranked as high as no. 11 in the world, lost the final eight games in the match. It was her seventh loss in seven matches against Sharapova.
