The Spaniard made quick business of winning the opening set 6-2. He served well while his movement was undoubtedly convincing. Wawrinka broke the Ferrer serve in the 7th game of the second set. He consolidated the break of serve to lead 5-3. Wawrinka went on to save a break point in the 10th game to take the second set 6-4. Set 2 stats: First serve points won: Wawrinka 78%; Ferrer 75%. Second serve points won: Wawrinka 58%; Ferrer 44%. Winners: Wawrinka 12; Ferrer 6. Unforced errors: Wawrinka 6/9; Ferrer 8/10. Break point conversion: Wawrinka 1/3; Ferrer 0/4. Ferrer was off to a good start when he got an early break of serve in the opening game of the deciding set. He converted the first of 3 break points. Wawrinka saved 2 break points to hold for 2-4, avoiding going down by a double break of serve. After a little over 2 hours, Ferrer converted the first of 3 match points to win the match 6-2 4-6 6-2.
