World number three Rafael Nadal is one of the most patriotic tennis players one can find. He can be always seen supporting sportsmen from his country all around the world.

The King of clay was sadly forced to withdraw from London Olympics due to his prevailing knee injury but he has supported Spain’s athletes throughout the mega event. He has been continuously wishing his countrymen through his facebook account. The 11-time Grand Slam also posted pictures of Spain’s athletes participating in their events and receiving medals at the London Olympics.

In his latest status, Nadal congratulated Spain’s synchronized swimmers and water polo players on their success. He wrote on his facebook account, “Yesterday afternoon I could not continue or congratulate the girls of synchronized swimming and water polo for successes. Many congratulations.”

Spanish athletes won silver medal in synchronized swimming and its women’s water polo team reached the Gold Medal match, where it will face USA.

Nadal previously posted pictures of Spain’s basketball players and triathlon competitor on his facebook page. The Spaniard also wished non Spanish top players from his own sport. The 26-year-old congratulated Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro on winning medals at the London Olympics.

The Mallorca resident was asked before the tennis event that who is his favorite player to win the Gold Medal. The Spanish star has replied that as he is very patriotic he wants some of his countryman to win the title.

The seven-time French Open is also a huge fan of Spanish football club Barcelona. He also follows Spanish football team and supports them at all the events they play including World Cup and Euro Cup.

Nadal was named to be Spain’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of London Olympics but he could not have the honor due to his withdrawal. He had won Gold Medal at the Beijing Olympics four years ago but failed to defend his title this time due to the injury.

The Spaniard also pulled out of this week’s Rogers Cup as he had not regained fitness but he has started light training now.
