Tennis: Former world no.1 and 12-time Rafael Nadal practised with French Tennis player Richard Gasquet at the Rogers Cup ATP Masters 1000 Tennis tournament in Montreal.
The Spaniard has reached Montreal last night and today had the first session of practice with his French friend, according to the photo he posted on social netoworking website Facebook.
Nadal posted a photo with Richard Gasquet with a caption on Spanish, "Primer entrenamiento en #Montreal con mi amigo Richy!! ;)" which means, "First practice in #Montreal with my friend Richy!!" with a wink.
The 26-year-old Mallorcan called Gasquet with his nickname Richy and also winked in the caption as he is a very good friend of Rochard Gasquet. Both players are very good friends and know each other since they were juniors. They are also age fellows.
World no.9 Gasquet is just 15 days younger than Nadal and they have competed a lot in juniors and in professional Tennis as well.
They have met 10 times in total and Nadal has been victor on all the occasions as the Spaniard leads the head-to-head record 10-0.
They had also met in the Rogers Cup in 2008 in the Quarterfinal. Gasquet won the first set in that meeting but Nadal won next two sets to take the match. Nadal went on to win the title.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion has won this tournament twice in 2005 and 2008.
How to play from the baseline
The expression “to endure the rally” is about those indeterminate moments of a rally where none of the players is leading.
The ability to endure the rally is fundamental when you play a “long rally”, because it offers you the chance to measure your opponent’s strong points and vulnerabilities, besides letting you position as best as possible for your next offensive shot.
