World number three Rafael Nadal is doing some specific exercises in gym to regain fitness. The Spaniard is withdrawing from tournament after tournament with a hope that he can fully recover from this knee problem before getting on the tennis court.
Nadal shared a picture on his facebook page in which he is doing knee exercise on a machine inside a gym. The French Open champion can be seen stretching his left leg in that picture.
The Spanish star wrote this caption for the photo, “This morning I have been doing some specific work to recovery my knee at the gym.”
Nadal is desperately trying to reclaim his fitness before the US Open. He has already bore a huge loss due to this injury as it forced him to withdraw from three top events.
First Nadal pulled out of the London Olympics, where he had to defend his Gold Medal. Then he announced his withdrawal from the ongoing Rogers Cup and now yesterday the left handed shared that he would be unable to take part in next week’s Western & Southern Open.
The 11-time Grand Slam champion has already lost a lot of ranking points because of this knee injury. If the 25-year-old fails to participate in the US Open, he will straightaway lose 1200 ranking points as he had reached title match there last year. Loss of 1200 ranking points would mean that Nadal would drop to fourth position in the ATP Rankings, getting replaced by Andy Murray.
However, Nadal and his fans are hoping that he will win his race against time and regain his fitness before the US Open, which starts from 27th August.
