World number three Andy Murray has said he believes Rafael Nadal brings a new energy on the tennis circuit with his fighting style and his presence on the ATP World Tour is very good for tennis.

Murray stated that Nadal has been one of the top players for almost last nine years, so he is badly missed if he takes off for a few months.

Nadal has not played a single tournament since June due to his recurring knee injury. He withdrew from all the events in the second half of last year. The former world number one was supposed to make a comeback by taking part in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi at this weekend but he withdrew due to stomach problems.

Murray, who is in Abu Dhabi to feature at the event, said while talking to the reporters, “He’s been in the top few players in the world since he was 17 years old. It’s been like nine years almost he’s been there, so when he’s not there for a few months, especially with his style and his passion and the way that he is on the court, he’s got a lot of energy, so when you lose that for a few months, I think it’s not ideal for tennis.”

The British number one is surely the player, who got most advantage from Nadal’s lay off in these last six months. Murray was losing to the Spaniard in the semi-finals of most of the Grand Slams in the last few years. The Brit succeeded in reaching the Wimbledon final for the first time and winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open.

Murray has always been a very good friend of Nadal. The British star added though tennis has coped up with Nadal’s long absence but the sport would become more entertaining when Nadal comes back.

He added, “Tennis is in a really good place just now, so we can cope, but it’s obviously much better for tennis when he’s around because he’s one of the most exciting players to watch.”

Nadal is now scheduled to make his comeback by playing the Qatar ExxonMobil Open at the start of next season. The 11-time Grand Slam champion’s fans were already making a countdown of their favorite player’s comeback but now they will have to wait for few more days.
