Milos Raonic was looking to be the first Canadian to reach the Semi-Finals of the Roger's Cup when he played against John Isner in the Quarter-Finals, but it was not to be.
He lost 7-6 6-4 after having received a walk-over by virtue of Andy Murray taking the decision not to play (avoiding being in a position to likely aggravate an injury he incurred to his left knee during his match against Flavia Cipolla. Richard Gasquet was clinical in his game-plan in the first Semi-Final of the Men's draw in Toronto, which saw him up against John Isner.
He won the opening set tie-break 7-6, only dropping four points on serve and returning the American's serve impressively. In the second set he got a crucial break during the sixth, when Isner was arguably lacking the intent and fire-power he begun with at the start of the match.
Gasquet consolidated the break and after an hour and 19 minutes, Gasquet would serve for the match at 5-2. Isner's 33rd unforced error of the match on match-point Gasquet awarded the French-man the win in straight sets 7-6 6-3. He will meet either Novak Djokovic or Janko Tipsarevic in the final.
