Serena Williams is certainly the favorite for the Olympic tournament and her journey through the tournament this week has so far been devastating as she continues to win without dropping a set. The American also appeared interested in other sports event and she said that other athletes have inspired her.
"I found the American gymnasts incredible, such beautiful things. Seeing Michael Phelps get his 19th medal I had tears in my eyes and I was happy. I am good friends with Ryan Lochte and I sent messages of congratulations for that day. It is as if it has all inspired me, as if we were here as a great team. We all share the same country and there is nothing better. "
Kim Clijsters discussed in the press conference that despite landing a place in the quarter-finals of the Olympic tournament, she does not seem distracted by the fact that it will be her last time at the tournament.
"I'm here to play tennis and I focus on this, I do not think it's over. Since I was 17-18 years old I have only concentrated on each tennis match and I will until I play the last. I think this routine and rhythm are now automatic. My decision, however, does not change. When I arrived at Wimbledon a few weeks ago, I took some time to think about many things but once I start playing that's my only thought, not that this will be one of my last tournaments."
