In an interview with Radio Marca, Fernando Verdasco is close to his dream of participating in his first Olympic Games, even if he believes that grass is, for the Spanish colors, the worst possible option.
"I really wanted to play the Games in London because I know it will be an unforgettable experience. Of course playing a Grand Slam or Masters 1000 is important but the goal this season for me is this tournament," said Fernando, focusing also on the desire to conclude "the year in the top-ten, or as close as possible (note: is currently 16th) hoping to match my best raking in 2013 (7)".
"I will arrive in London after playing the tournaments in Umago and Hamburg. I look forward to sharing with my countrymen fellow in the Olympic Village although unfortunately that not facilitate the movement finding us two hours to Wimbledon. Unfortunately we will play on the grass which for us Spanish is the worst area, if we have played on the ground, I think that a couple of medals would have been ours, but nevertheless I think that competing for the best of three we will create many surprising results, " concluded Verdasco.
