WTA - Maria Sharapova closing in on 500 career wins

Tennis - World no. 2 Maria Sharapova, who completed a career grand slam last June in Paris by winning the French Open title, is now closing in on another milestone. The Russian is now only nine wins away from entering the 500 club.

Sharapova currently has 491 career wins and needs nine more for her 500th win. Daniela Hantuchova is also closing in on the milestone - having already won 494 matches.

Here is a list of those players who are closing in on the 500 wins club.
