WTA Eastbourne - Kerber wins record 39th match on tour this year

4th seed Marion Bartoli and 5th seed Angelique Kerber have reached the semi finals of the AEGON International in Eastbourne

Bartoli was too strong for seventh seed Lucie Safarova winning 6-4, 6-2 while Kerber scored a 6-2, 6-4 win over former champion Ekaterina Makarova. This was Kerber's 39th win of the season on the tour in 2012 - the most by any player so far.

Also moving into the semi finals were Czech Klara Zakaplova and Austrian Tamira Paszek.

Zakaplova beat Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3, 7-5 while Paszek beat former Wimbledon semi finalist Tsvetana Pironokova 6-0, 6-4.

The semi finals will take place on Friday.
