World no.1 Victoria Azarenka won her second tour title in as many weeks with a win at the WTA Generali Ldaies Linz event in Austria.
Azarenka was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over fifth seed Julia Goerges on Sunday. Goerges bounced back from 0-5 down in the second set to 4-5 but was unable to take the match into a third set.
"At 5-0 it felt like such a comfortable lead. I think I won seven games in a row at that point. But then Julia just went for her shots, and I kind of misjudged the situation," Azarenka told the press. "I felt like the match was already in my hands, but Julia is such an unpredictable player, and the momentum can turn around really quickly with her, and it did. I wasn't really expecting to have such a change. I'm glad I stayed in the moment. I did the right things at that moment to finish the match and I'm very happy I managed to win today.
"I was coming to Linz for the first time and everywhere you go you try to win, and I'm really happy I could go all the way through this tournament. I'm happy to end the week with such a beautiful trophy and a smile on my face."
This was Azarenka's sixth title of the year - the most by any player on tour alongwith Serena Williams.
Goerges was happy with her performance this week "Well, it was a tough day, but I saw I had the chance to stay with the No.1 player in the world, and even change the match from 5-0 down. But I got to two finals here, which I've never achieved in one week before, and even though I didn't win, I'm happy with my tournament."
