WTA Monterrey - American Vandeweghe loses in first round

20 year old American Coco Vandeweghe was beaten in the first round of the WTA Whirlpool Monterrey Open on Monday.

Vandeweghe battled hard but lost to top seed Roberta Vinci 7-5, 7-5. Second seed Italian Sara Errani also won beating Canadian Stephanie Dubois.

Former world no. 4 Jelena Dokic continued to struggle, going down to Alexandra Cadantu  36 61 75.

Serena Williams pulled out of the event earlier on Sunday but was at the site for some promotional activities along with Gisela Dulko.
