23 year old American Vania King, seeded eighth this week, advanced to the quarter finals of the WTA PTT Pattaya Open on Thursday.
King scored a 61 63 victory over Alla Kudryavtseva and will play Daniela Hantuchova next. The Slovak has won all their previous six matches on tour.
Hantuchova scored a 63 62 second round win over Urszula Radwanska and moved a stepl closer to defending the title she won last year.
Sania Mirza and qualifier Hsieh Su-Wei also won to set up a quarter final.Hseih beat the 41 year old Japanese veteran Kimiko Date Krumm. Mirza beat the British world no. 88 Anne Keothevang in straight sets. Mirza is also through to the quarter finals in doubles this week where she is top seeded with Australian Anastasia Rodionova.
