WTA Sydney - Keys, Oudin, Vandeweghe advance to the second round in qualifying

Young Americans Madison Keys, Coco Vandeweghe and Melanie Oudin were among the winners in the first day of qualifying for the Apia International in Syndey.

There were other big names who also advanced into the second round of qualifying such as two time grand slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and 42 year old wonder woman Kimiko Date-Krumm.

Among those who bit the dust on the first day of qualifying included French teenager Caroline Garcia, Australian wild card teen Naikhta Bains and former Wimbledon semi finalist Mirjana Lucic.
