WTA Wimbledon - Sharapova is named top seed at SW 19

French Open champion and world no. 1 Maria Sharapova has been named top seed for the Wimbledon ladies singles championships which begins on monday in London.

The AELTC stuck to the WTA rankings for the seedings.

Two notable absentees in the list is five time champion Venus Williams and former world no. 1 Kim Clijsters.

Both are now ranked in the 50s after strggling with injuries over the last year.
