The German women having been scorching the WTA tour in the last 18 months with Andrea Petkovic, Sabine Lisicki, Angelique Kerber, and Mona Barthel making waves in womens tennis.

Now the German men seem to be following suit.

Germans Philipp Kohlschreiber, the No. 27 seed, and No. 31 seed Florian Mayer have reached the last eight at Wimbledon - mraking the first time since 1997 that two German men have reached the quarters at a major.

Philipp Kohlschreiber beat  American qualifier Brian Baker 6-1, 7-6(4), 6-3 to reach his first grand slam semi final 

Mayer beat No. 16 seed Richard Gasquet of France 6-3, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
