Australian Open champion and world no. 2 Victoria Azarenka has reached the semi finals of Wimbledon - ending the run of unseeded Austrian Tamira Paszek.
Azarenka won 63 76(4) in 109 minutes, getting broken both times she served for the match at 5-4 and 6-5 in the second set, but managing to win the second set in a tie breaker.
"Tamira's been playing some amazing tennis lately - no matter what the score is, through her past experience over this month, she can still win," Azarenka told the press after her win. "So I was ready every time. You could see whenever she was down, she was really going for it. I had to stay composed and take my opportunities."
Azarenka could reclaim her no.1 ranking from Maria Sharapova depnding on how well she does this week. She faces opposition from Agnieszka Radwanska for the no. 1 spot.
