Andy Roddick slumped to a disappointing 2-6, 7-6(8), 6-4, 6-3 defeat at Wimbledon on Saturday, putting an end to what was shaping up to be a promising campaign for the American.

Roddick, who has said that this might be his last Wimbledon, easily won the first set, but Ferrer raised his game in the second, third and fourth sets to eventually secure the win.

“I'm playing very good this season,” Ferrer assessed afterwards. “Today was a tough, tough match. I played very consistent, very solid. I returned very well [in] the third and fourth set.”

Roddick has been struggling with injury and illness of late, and has seen his ranking drop out of the Top 20.
