World no. 1 doubles pair of Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Daniel Nestor of Canada booked their place in the year ending championships which would be held in London for the last time this year. The pair assured their place in Barclays ATP Tour finals by second round win in Rogers Cup in Toronto.
Both players had tasted the success at the championships before, but last year they teamed up for the first time and won the title again. It will be ninth appearance for Mirnyi in the championships and 14th for the left-handed Canadian.
Nestor was obviously very happy to qualify for the championships as he said,
“I’m happy to be going back. Obviously I have a good partner. I’ve always had good partners to help me qualify. I really like going there. It’s such an amazing event, so we feel fortunate to qualify. It’s an amazing event to be a part of. We really enjoy playing in London and the arena. It’s such a nice arena to play in, the atmosphere is great.”
“This year Max and I are playing probably a little bit better than we were last year, so hopefully we can stay ahead of the Bryans, close to the Bryans, and then if it goes down to London, then it’ll be exciting to see who finishes No. 1,” said Nestor.
