World no. 1 and top seed at the event, Victoria Azarenka of Belarus took just 50 minutes to outdo her Russian opponent Alexandra Panova in straight sets 6-0,6-1.
This year's Australian Open champion was too strong for her opponent from the word do as she broken her opponent three times in the first set and took the set 6-0 in just 20 minutes.
Panova did try hard and was successful in winning just one game in the second set which was relatively longer than the first set as it took 30 minutes.
Surprisingly, Azarenka served six double faults in the match, who was looking to be practicing her serve. She also served 2 Aces though and hit 20 winners.
Next up for the Olympic Games Bronze Medallist will be Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium who won in a tough three setter against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of Czech Republic.
