Tennis: Chardy wasn't at his best against Marin Cilic in Monte Carlo, while Mannarino was forced to retire against Lucas Pouille.

French tennis player Jeremy Chardy is dealing with back problems at the moment.

Chardy lost in the second-round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Wednesday to Marin Cilic of Croatia. The Frenchman said post-game that he was having problems while serving and that he felt pain after his opening match at the tournament against Borna Coric.

World number 71 Chardy added that he will take a ''small rest,'' and then train at the Mouratoglou Academy before traveling to Barcelona to play next week's Barcelona Open. It will be the third tournament in the same number of weeks for the French veteran.

Another French tennis player, Adrian Mannarino, is having health problems. Mannarino, who was forced to quit his Monte Carlo round-of-16 clash against Lucas Pouille on Thursday, said after the match that he is bothered by a hip injury.

28-year-old Mannarino had a good outing in Monte Carlo, defeating Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the second-round.
