Photo: The Bryans in Monte Carlo last month The Bryan brothers survived a tight battle against fellow Americans Sam Querrey and John Isner to book a place in the Madrid doubles final. The world’s number one pairing trailed by a minibreak at 5-6 in the match tiebreak and although they squandered two match points they eventually closed it out 12-10.

Earlier, “Quisner” had taken the first set 6-4 with a single break but Bob and Mike fought back quickly and wasted little time in taking the second set 6-1. The match tiebreak was a tight affair with the Bryans extra experience proving crucial in a nail-biting finish.

In the final the Bryans will face Nenad Zimonjic and Michael Llodra who saw off unseeded Croatian singles specialists Marin Cilic and Ivan Ljubicic, amazingly with an identical 4-6 6-1 12-10 scoreline.
