Tennis - Thiem, Berdych and Monfils start their campaign as well

The top players enter the court in Indian Wells on Saturday. On the men's side, Andy Murray will play Vasek Pospisil in the night session. The Canadian player is coming back to a good level after a bad 2016 season, and in his four previous meetings against Murray, he never won a set. The World No. 1, who got his best result at Indian Wells in 2009 reaching the final, is the favourite to win. Same thing for the World No. 3 Stan Wawrinka, who faces an inspired Paolo Lorenzi. The Italian player will fight as best as possible on every point, and he will try to take advantage of Wawrinka's potential ups and downs in the first rounds of the events. Anyway, for Lorenzi, who won against Haase at first round level, it will be very difficult to prevail. Another Italian, Fabio Fognini, enters the court to face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is returning from Rotterdam and Marseille titles. Also Thiem, Berdych and Monfils to play.

On the women's side the match of the day is the German derby Kerber-Petkovic. The World No. 1 won seven times on ten matches played against Petkovic, but they played against each other only once since 2012. Venus Williams will start her campaign against Jelena Jankovic, while in the night session another American player, Coco Vandeweghe, will play Lucie Safarova. Also Halep and Keys to play.
