World No. 1 Andy Murray has withdrawn from next week's Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati due to a hip injury. Previously, the three-time Grand Slam champion pulled out of the ongoing Montreal Masters. The 30-year-old will have missed the Cincinnati Masters for the first time in more than a decade as he has played at the event regularly since 2005.

Murray won it all twice in Cincinnati (2008 and 2011) before falling just short to Croatian star Marin Cilic in the final last year The Scot hasn't played since a quarter-final loss suffered to big-serving Sam Querrey at Wimbledon.
It has been an injury-plagued and disappointing season for Murray so far, who is set to lose the No. 1 ranking to Rafa Nadal, 31. It remains to be seen will Murray, who captured his maiden Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows five years ago, recover in time for the last Major of the season.
