Tennis - Behun is a U18 Slovak junior champion from 2015
David Macpherson, men's tennis head coach at George Washington Colonials, announce the signing of 19-year-old Slovak Jakub Behun, who will join the team soon. A native of Bratislava, Behun was ranked among the 300 best juniors in the world in September 2015 and he also tried to qualify for 5 Futures tournament, with no luck. That same year he was the U18 national junior champion, also reaching 5 other good results on the ITF junior Tour. The Colonials will open the spring season on January 21 against Northern Illinois and their primary goal is to win the 4th consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship title at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
"Jakub is certainly an extremely high-character student-athlete," said Macpherson. "His results internationally suggest he has the ability to be part of our starting lineup immediately. We're very excited to have him come into the preseason to meet the team and work with the team and form new doubles partnerships."
