No.25 Texas A&M men’s tennis team picked up a pair wins, beating Texas Tech 5-2 and sweeping UT-Rio Grande Valley 6-0 in a doubleheader at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The duos of Arthur Rinderknech-Valentin Vacherot and Jordi Arconada-Max Lunkin recorded wins to give the Aggies the doubles point and a 1-0 lead against Texas Tech. Rinderknech, the 14th-ranked singles player, followed up with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jolan Cailleau at the No. 1 line. Aleksandre Bakshi, Arconada and Vacherot also grabbed singles wins over the Red Raiders (4-6) to clinch the Aggies’ victory.
In the second match, the pairings of Rinderknech-Arconada and Kevin Lam-Frankie Colunga gave the Aggies the doubles point against UTRGV. AJ Catanzariti, Vacherot, Lam, Hady Habib, James Martell and Colunga swept the singles matches as the Aggies shut out UTGRV.
A&M (3-3) will play a pair of matches in the Sunshine State in two weeks, taking on South Florida on Feb. 24 followed by a match against Florida State on Feb. 26.
