Belgian tennis player David Goffin plans to represent his country in the Davis Cup quarter-finals against Italy, claims 7SUR7.be
Goffin withdrew from Belgium's opening-round tie in the competition against Germany played February 3-5. Even though Goffin's absence weakened Belgium's chances - they did manage to surprise Germany in an away tie and pull out a 4-1 victory.
World number 11 Goffin, who defeated Andrey Kuznetsov in Rotterdam on Wednesday, revealed his plans in his post-match interview.
Goffin debuted in the Davis Cup five years ago in 2012 and has featured 11 Davis Cup ties so far in his career. The 26-year-old notched a 15-3 record in a singles rubbers and 0-3 in a doubles ones. He was heavily involved in Belgium's Davis Cup run two years ago - which saw the country reaching the competition's finals - which they did eventually lose to Great Britain.
Belgium will host Italy at Spiroudome de Charleroi, indoor hard-court, April 7-9.
