Tops and Flops of 2017 Fed Cup quarter-finals!- View: 2822 by Lorenzo Ciotti
The quarter-finals of the Fed Cup 2017, with regard to the World Group, gave the first and important verdicts.
The two semi-finals will be between Czech Republic and the USA, and between Switzerland and Belarus. Spain, France, Germany and the Netherlands were eliminated. Tennis World would like to offer you the Tops and Flops of this first round of Fed Cup 2017.
Tops Karolina Pliskova. The Czech tennis player is in great shape in this first part of the season. She won both of her matches, especially giving a hard tennis lesson to Garbine Muguruza. Karolina is the added value of this extraordinary team.
Coco Vandeweghe. Here's another player who is a candidate to have a great 2017. After a very good Australian Open, Coco led the USA team to victory, winning both of her matches (in the first, thanks to the withdrawal of Julia Goerges).
Aliaksandra Sasnovich. The 23-year-old took her glory space this weekend, defeating Michaëlla Krajicek and Kiki Bertens. In fact, her victories allowed her team to reach the semi-final. Timea Bacsinszky.
The big match between Switzerland and France was won by the Helvetic tennis players, especially thanks to the performances of Timea Bacsinszky, who beat Alize Cornet and Kristina Mladenovic in singles, and she also won the doubles along Martina Hingis.
The absolute star. Czech Republic. Winners of the last three editions, they confirmed themselves as the best. They beat Spain without too many problems, even with the absence of Petra Kvitova, who will have to stay away from the courts until June.
IN THE NEXT PAGE THE FLOPS OF 2017 FED CUP QUARTERS! Flops Garbine Muguruza. Let's face it, after the victory in Paris her performances dropped a lot, and too fast.
It made all demand the answer to the question: was Garbine's victory in Paris just a coincidence? Even in Fed Cup, after the good win over Barbora Strycova, she was brutally beaten by Pliskova. Too many ups and downs for a player who aspires to be the future number one of women's tennis.
Andrea Petkovic. Two matches, two defeats. She seemed to have lost lucidity, concentration and determination. Her defeats have cost, in fact, the elimination from the Fed Cup of her team. Kiki Bertens.
One win, one loss, and overall not a good weekend for her and her team that was defeated resoundingly by Belarus. Kristina Mladenovic. The victory against Belinda Bencic was practically useless. The defeat in the incredible match against Bacsinszky ruined the challenge of the French team.
The post-match words towards her opponent Bacsinszky didn't make her honor: "After the medical time out she was running like a kangaroo". Italian team. In World Group II, Italy's resounding defeat to Slovakia, threatens an incredible relegation to Group I Europe/Africa, for a team that wrote the recent history of the Fed Cup.
