Monica Puig: 'Sharapova is a humble and nice person'
Tennis - The World No. 47 says she is looking forward to see the former World No. 1 compete again
Maria Sharapova is not one of the most loved players in the locker room, you will remember Dominika Cibulkova's sayings about the Russian player last year. But at the same time there is still someone who is happy that she will be back competing at Stuttgart in April for the first time since 15 months.
It's Monica Puig, who played against Sharapova in December at San Juan, Puerto Rico, in an exhibition match. 'That was incredible, it was a really fun event,' Puig told Sport360 in Doha. 'Especially with Maria, I could see how much she wanted to get back on the court. She’s really funny, we had a lot of laughs and hopefully the event will continue to grow and hopefully have another edition at the end of this year.'
Puig added: 'She's a really nice person, really humble person as well and I’m really looking forward to seeing her back on the tour.'
Sharapova's presence is confirmed for Stuttgart, Madrid and Rome events. She will most likely get a wild card to play Roland Garros too.
