World Tennis Challenge: Mark Philippoussis wins deciding clash against Fabrice Santoro

Team Gold has defeated Team Red at the World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide on Wednesday. John Peers and Henri Kontinen gave a 1-0 lead to Team Gold over Team Red after defeating Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan.

The Australian/Finnish duo beat the American pair in a tight two-setter 7-6 (3) 7-6 (6). World number 31 Sam Querrey even things up with a win over Aleksandr Dolgopolov in the following clash.

The American lost seven games on his way to beating the Ukrainian 6-3 6-4. Team Red was close to creating a comeback against Team Gold -- but their bid had fallen short eventually. Mark Philippoussis of Team Gold defeated Fabrice Santoro in a three-set match 4-6 6-1 10-6.

Team Gold has its first victory as a team, while Team Red has its first loss in Adelaide. Team Red defeated Team Blue on the opening day of the Australian exhibition. Team Gold is set to square off against Team Blue on Thursday at the World Tennis Challenge.
