ATP 250 of Marseille will take place next week and ahead of the 2017 edition, the tournament director Jean-François Caujolle spoke about the choices they did for the player' field that this year will feature Gael Monfils, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Grigor Dimitrov but also younger players like Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Denis Shapovalov.
There won't be really a top player this year. There were chances to see Stan Wawrinka playing again in Marseille for the third year in a row, but in his three appearances there (2008, 2015-2016) he never won more than one match in a row. 'Negotiations with Wawrinka lasted until the last minute,' Caujolle told Le Provence. 'But I preferred to reach an agreement with younger players like Zverev and Dimitrov this year, who have a great game. I like atypical players: Monfils, Kyrgios, Shapovalov or Zverev himself. It will be an interesting year.'
