ATP Los Angeles - Harrison fightback stuns Berankis- View: 2464 by Stephen Kelly
The American teenager recovers from a set and a break down against the young Lithuanian to reach the second round at the Farmers´ Classic in LA
Ryan Harrison once again displayed all of his battling qualities as he recovered from a set and a break down to defeat Richard Berankis.
Trailing by a set and 4-2 to his fellow prospect, the American teenager upped his level to record a 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-3 victory.
Berankis returned last week in Atlanta after a four month injury lay off and his lack of sharpness was evident towards the end of the third set as he was broken twice to lose the match.
For Harrison it was a continuation of the rich vein of form that has seen him pick up his first ATP doubles title, reach his first ATP semi-final and crack the top 100 all in the last three weeks.
In the second round Harrison will face American veteran Michael Russell, who recovered from a set down to ease past Dimitry Tursunov yesterday.
The pair have met twice this year, with Harrison winning on both occasions. The first was via an early retirement in the Brisbane qualifying draw while the more recent victory was a three setter in the semi-final of the Honolulu Challenger.
