Tennis - Bryan Brothers aim for non calendar year grand slam at Wimbledon- View: 2013 by Prakash
Tennis - Bryan Brothers have won last three grand slams
Tennis - The world's top ranked doubles players Mike and Bob Bryan are aiming to complete a non-calendar year grand slam at Wimbledon next week and are also hoping to win the third leg of the calendar grand slam.
But the Bryans, whose 14 grand slam titles are more than any other team in tennis history, are trying not to get too ahead of themselves.
Speaking to the ATP Tour website, Mike Bryan commented, "It is such a faraway possibility. It is a goal we have never even thought of, even though we are half way there. I thought about many different shots that we haven’t used in the past that we wanted to implement this year. We wanted to have a little more variety as far as formations and poaching. Also variety on our second ball, with more lobs and drop volleys.
Bob Bryan commented, "We judge a year, if we win one Slam and finish No. 1. That’s what we judge as a great year. If the season stopped tomorrow, we would view 2013 as a huge success. We made the finals of all four in 2005, which was unbelievable. But we’ve dealt with a lot of records over the past few years – the Open Era record, the Woodies record … There is always something to go for.”
The Bryans have won Wimbledon twice in their careers so far and will be hoping to win it for a third time.
