Grigor Dimitrov must have failed to break-through the finals of Australian Open 2014, but he has an admirer in 14-time Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras, who believes that the Bulgarian star can become the future stud of the sport, and that he can reach very peak of his career in the next couple of years.
On being questioned if 'Baby Fed' is the best young talent in the tennis circuit, Sampras replied: "Yes. If he’s not in the top 10 or maybe even the top five by the end of the year, I’ll be surprised.
"He believes in himself more, he’s got a great game, he really hits it well and he had chances against Rafa (Nadal). He’ll be right there. He’s very good. I don’t know if he’s quite ready to be competing for grand slam titles just yet – Novak and Rafa, I see those guys battling this year."
Samparas mentioned the points on which Dimitrov needs to work upon. He added: "He’s a pretty thin guy and I think he’s working on trying to get some more muscle and get in better shape. He knows it, so he’s working on it. He’s only 22, so he’s got a little time to get a little stronger, a little fitter, but he’s on his way."
