Tennis - Swedish tennis have been waiting for another break-out star after the premature exit of Robin Soderling from the tennis circuit.

And on Tuesday, 18-year-old Swedish wild card Elias Ymer delighted home fans at the SkiStar Swedish Open with a first round win. Ymer, ranked just outside the top 300 in the world, defeated Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3, 7-5 to score his first ATP Tour level win.

Meanwhile, in other first round matches, Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas upset sixth seed Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 6-2, seventh seed Carlos Berlocq beat German Julian Reister 2-6, 6-2, 6-2; eighth seed Pablo Carreno Busta beat German Dustin Brown 6-3, 6-4, and Albert Ramos-Vinolas defeated Czech Jiri Vesely 7-5, 6-2.

There was more to cheer for local fans as another Swedish wild card advanced to the second round - 22-year-old Christian Lindell eased past qualifier Inigo Cervantes 6-2, 6-3 for his first tour-level win as well. Meanwhile, at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, rain washed out all matches on Tuesday which means that Wednesday will be an action-packed day.
